Capturing Someone's Essence
(commisioned portraits)
A portrait is a timeless work of art created with skill and care, to express the true essence of someone. I thoroughly enjoy creating unique portraits that people will cherish for generations. Portraits are wonderful as gifts, or for yourself. Children, spouses, grandparents, friends, and even animals are just some of the possibilities. Portraits are available in a variety of mediums and styles, with options to fit almost any budget.
Portraits are definitely my specialty, as I've been primarily focused on the human face for 26 years. I am able to create a very natural, realistic portrait that captures the true likeness of a person (provided a good quality reference photo.)

"Heather has now painted four portraits for us -- Jean's father, the two of us, and our two grandchildren. All have captured both the physical attributes of her subjects as well as their underlying spirit. Heather's process is collaborative throughout, and we have been very pleased with the results."

“Heather’s portraits have become our family’s heirlooms. When my father-in-law died in the Spring, I decided to ask Heather to paint a portrait of him, my husband and my son all together in one family picture using old photos. She was amazing to work with and did a brilliant job capturing their personalities and likenesses in watercolor. I gave the painting to my husband for Father’s Day. It remains one of his favorite gifts and hangs above his desk in his office.
Heather is extremely talented. She listens to what you are trying to achieve and gives you a mock-up to make sure that you are both in sync for the final portrait. I recommend her highly and have had her paint two other family portraits since the original one.”
